Snowbee Geo Reels
The Snowbee Geo reel isn't about just the looks. The smooth drag system and light weight design puts this reel at the top of the list with the competitors.
Lurking below the surface is the latest design of multi-disc, centre drag systems, featuring polished stainless steel, glass fibre and Teflon/Rulon composite drag washers. A detented drag control provides a smooth, progressive drag, coupled with minimal start-up inertia
I have finally gave this reel the ultimate test on a migratory steelhead this spring on my home waters. The fish took line twice once almost getting into my backing and the reel never skipped, or gave me any problems. It is also very easy reel for adjustments on the drag system, while fighting a fish. I find that important because some reels skip over two notches where the Geo you can feel the gears set in to the desired setting, always keep a tight line on the fish. You can find the Geo in three sizes the 340, 560, 790 and new for 2010 the 910 and the 1012 for spey and saltwater set-ups. Also new the Geo comes in the cassette format in the 790 version.
Snowbee XSD 11/12 Cartridge
I would consider this to be the workhorse reel that Snowbee has to offer. It doesn't have the flash like the Geo reels but she works just as good and can take a beating while on the river.
I recommend this reel on the heavier longer rods, as the reel itself has some weight, like the older vintage spey reels that are out there. With the large arbour, you will have plenty of room for adequate backing accompanied by your skagit or scandi style of line.
The best part of this reel is the cartridge feature, if you want to change to a sinking line, scandi, skagit and so on. You can simple spool up the remanding three spools and if fishing is slow have fun changing up lines right on the river.
So if you looking for a low-cost die cast reel, with a quality drag system. Not to mention the best cartridge system on the market today. I would suggest give the XSD system a try. This year Snowbee has introduced the 460 and 780 to line up for the XSD system.
